Project Management Training

CSOA's focus is to provide training for the entire team.

We believe that managers will learn better in smaller groups.  With these smaller groups we can accomplish detail training for your managers to give them the capability to not only read but understand, analyze and manage:

  • Work In Progress (WIP) reports - What do the numbers really mean?
  • Percent Complete Accounting - Explained from an operations side rather than an accountants side.
  • Job Cost Reports - Is the project on track and what can be done to correct any issues that may be arising?
  • Cost Codes and Budgets - The proper and most efficient methods to setting up cost code budgets to guarantee proper feedback from the field.  (Eliminating the garbage-in, garbage-out effect that this will have on the job cost report if not done properly)
  • On Site Project Review - How to properly walk a project to understand the percent completed in different areas as well as any issues that might arise.
  • Contracts - How to analyze and negotiate a contract.  What changes can you actually get? What language is acceptable?
  • Month End Closing Procedures - How to properly prepare your projects for month end closing.
  • Cash Flow - The art of cash flow.
  • Billings and Collecting - The importance and proper procedures for billing and collecting and how they affect the company's cash flow.
  • Over/Under Billings - How they affect revenue.
  • Team Work - The advantages of working as a team.
  • Subcontractors - How to be sure your subcontractor will be successful on the project.
  • General Contractors - Working with general contractors.
  • Owners - Dealing with tough owners, general contractors or subcontractors.

Training is provided by phone, online, at your site or remote site. These sessions can be one-on-one, group sessions or our popular group weekend retreat sessions.

Training for new employees or employees in new positions:

  • We will assist these employees to understand both their job and responsibilities to their career by providing on the job training; one-on-one in person, by phone and/or e-mail.
  • If we are not on site, we are just a phone call away making sure that the best decisions are being made.
